Vintage 2003, the first vintage where global warming was clearly felt. A hot, dry summer that demanded everything from the pear trees and brought not only fruit concentration but also minerality to the fruit.

Aged in glass carboys until the aroma and taste had harmonized. XA stands for extra old. 45 percent, 700 milliliters, hand-numbered.

You can still smell and taste this year to this day.

Ein sehr heißer, sehr trockener Sommer. Die Birnenbäume mussten tief gehen, und das holte neben der Fruchtkonzentration auch Mineralität in die Früchte. Man riecht und schmeckt es bis heute.

Extra alt. Diese Brände reifen weit über das üblich Maß hinaus, in Glasballons oder kleinen Holzfässern, und werden in einem eigens dafür gebauten Tresor verwahrt.

Weil es von jedem Jahrgang nur eine begrenzte Menge gibt und jede Flasche einem konkreten Jahr zugeordnet ist. Ist ein Jahrgang aus, kommt er nicht wieder.
