Normally, a spirit is brought to drinking strength with water after barrel aging. Not this bottling. It goes into the bottle exactly as it comes out of the barrel.

The base is our Alte Zwetschke, aged for at least eight years in oak barrels at about 70 percent. Over the years, the wood adds notes of toast, caramel, and a hint of vanilla, and a portion evaporates. What remains is denser and darker than the original spirit.

350 milliliters, because there is very little left of this bottling. Not for a quick drink, and expressly something for people who otherwise drink whisky.

Kleines Glas, kleine Menge, Zeit. Ein Tropfen Wasser öffnet den Brand, wer will, kann das im Glas selbst entscheiden. Zu kräftigem Espresso passt er gut.

Dass nach der Fasslagerung kein Wasser zugesetzt wird. Der Alkoholgehalt ergibt sich aus dem, was im Fass passiert ist, und schwankt daher von Abfüllung zu Abfüllung.

Dieselbe Herkunft, dieselbe Lagerung, andere Abfüllung. Die Alte Zwetschke kommt mit 40 Prozent in die Flasche, die Fassstärke mit über 60.
