Austria’s Orchard.

In Styrian Volcanic Land, good vinegar starts in the soil. And the soil here is special: Formed from lava and rock, it makes the region one of the most fertile spots in the country.

Today, fruit grows here that does not grow in the same way elsewhere.

On the hills around Riegersburg, old varieties such as the Maschansker apple and the Hirschbirne pear thrive. They grow slower, yield less, but offer more complex aromas and a pronounced acidity. This is exactly what we need for our vinegars and spirits.

Our Genusshotel Riegersburg is right in the middle of it all. On an old vineyard with a view of the castle, just a few minutes from our manufactory.

Modern architecture, a wellness oasis for quiet hours, and a kitchen that works with what the region has to offer. From here, the surrounding manufacturers can be reached in just a few minutes by car. In the morning, enjoy a view over the Volcanic Land that's worth waking up early for.

To understand why a Gölles product tastes the way it tastes, the best place to start is right here: with the landscape itself.
